You are invited to the 2021 T-Bird Tempest at Timpview High School.   We are excited to continue the tradition of good, fun and competitive tournaments at TImpview High School after a 2 year hiatus.  

Dates: 10/29-10/30

Location: Timpview High School 

Students will be permitted to double enter in speech events, but competitors will need to do so at their own risk, and may have to move quickly from one event to another.  Students can also enter in both speech and debate events. 

We will be offering both Novice and Open/Varisy divisions of every event. We reserve the right to collapse events together if there aren’t enough entries in a cerain event or division. 

***There will be novice and Open/Varsity for all events.  

10/29 Speech Events

• OO, NX, FX, Impromptu, Spar, Hi, DI, Duo, POI, Storytelling, Declamation. 

10/30 Debate Events: 

• Policy, Public Forum, Lincoln Douglas, Congress.  

• For LD and Public Forum, Novices will debate 3 rounds, while Open/varisty kids will debate 4 or 5 rounds, de[ending on size of the tournament and number of entries.

• 2021-22--Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its protection of water resources in the United States.

• NOVICE POLICY DECK REQUIRED FOR NOVICES!!!!

Public Forum

• September October--Resolved: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization should substantially increase its defense commitments to the Baltic states.

Lincoln Douglas

• We will be debating the Varsity NSDA LD topic for September/October for boty Novice and Open events. 

• September-October--Resolved: The member nations of the World Trade Organization ought to reduce intellectual property protections for medicines.

Judging requirements.

• Speech Events-1 judge for every 5 entries

• Debate Events: 1 judge for every 2 entries

• Congress: 1 judge for every 4 entries

Concessions and food: We will have a concessions stand stocked with various snacks and drinks.  If we can will will also sell hot dogs. Please feel free to spend money at our concession stand as it helps support the Timpview Speech and Debate Team.  Be aware that other than a local grocery store there are no fast food restaurants within walking distance of THS.
